OUR HISTORY

The purpose built Center originally opened as an affiliate of the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston in 2004. Since 2008 the Center has operated independently as the Gulf Diabetes Specialist Center.  In August 2018 the Center changed its name to the Gulf Medical and Diabetes Center to better serve its patients and the wider community. Services include the management and treatment of diabetes, endocrinology, ophthalmology, neurology, podiatry & foot health, rheumatology, gastroenterology and hepatology, cardiology and GP clinic, supported by modern radiology, laboratory, pharmacy and nutrition services.

A leader in serving people with diabetes, we are committed to helping you or your loved ones successfully manage diabetes using the latest information, technology and treatment options that are available for diabetes.

GMDC offers various facilities for the investigation and treatment of endocrine problems in adult, adolescent and pregnant mothers, to cardiovascular and kidney diseases and all the complications associated with diabetes.

Our Department of Ophthalmology is specialized in the diagnosis and management of medical and surgical eye diseases. It includes the very latest Schwind 750S LASIK Unit, and a fully equipped operation theatre for minor and major eye surgeries.

The Podiatry and Diabetic Foot Clinic provides comprehensive evaluation, treatment and rehabilitative foot care for adults specializing in acute and chronic diabetic foot complications.

Friendly, caring staff are available to assist you and to promote a holistic approach to your healthcare, supported by dedicated nursing staff offering a wealth of expertise.

The Gulf Medical and Diabetes Center is a modern state-of-the-art outpatient medical facility offering a comprehensive range of services.

The Center opened under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Bahrain, Sh. Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, by the Deputy Prime Minister Sh. Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
